Running for Office

Districts 1, 3 and 5 are up for election in November 2026, as well as any open seats.

For Soil and Water Conservation District Seats, supervisor qualifications include:

  • Residency: You must live within the boundaries of the soil and water conservation district. 
  • Agricultural connection: You must meet at least one of the following criteria: 
    • Be actively engaged in, or retired after at least 10 years of being engaged in, agriculture as defined by state law. 
    • Be employed by an agricultural producer. 
    • Own, lease, or be actively employed on land classified as agricultural under Florida Statute 193.461. 
  • Qualification process: You must qualify as directed by Florida Statute Chapter 99, and pay any required state fees. 

Campaign and election requirements

  • Campaign finance: You must adhere to Chapter 106 of the Florida Statutes, which governs campaign finance. However, candidates who receive no contributions or make no expenditures are exempt from certain requirements, though they must still file periodic reports. 
  • Financial Disclosure: Supervisors must file Form 1 Financial Disclosures with the state.
  • Ballot access: Your name will appear on the ballot according to general election laws once all necessary paperwork is filed. 
  • Voting: All qualified electors who reside within the district are eligible to vote. 
  • Election cycle: The election for supervisors is held every two years during the general election, with Districts 1, 3 and 5 elections in 2026 and Districts 2 and 4 in 2028. 
  • Term: The term for an elected supervisor is four years, with no compensation.
